This blog is about the community in east Toronto centred on the Ashbridge Estate, one of the most historic sites in the city.

The Ashbridge family came to the area east of the town of York (now Toronto) in 1793.  The Ashbridge house at 1444 Queen Street East, Toronto, Canada was built in 1854 (first floor) with the second floor added in 1899.

Around 1912 the Ashbridge family sold off much of their land, resulting in a building boom — including the Duke of Connaught School immediately to the north of the house, and several blocks of residential development.

This blog is about our community.

Duke of Connaught School celebrated 100 years in 2012 — you can see more about that here.
